Split Systems
Government Rebates Available
The Government is currently providing financial incentives to upgrade from gas to split system technology. Split systems heat and cool, making them one of the most versatile and cost-effective options for Macedon Ranges homes. Ask us how we can help with the rebate today.
Smarter Technology
Today's inverter split systems adjust power levels depending on the heating or cooling required, a significant improvement over older technology that was simply full on or full off and used considerably more electricity as a result.
Most new systems are also WiFi capable, meaning you can turn them on remotely so you come home to a comfortable house. Unlike evaporative cooling, split systems perform well on the hot and humid days the Macedon Ranges can throw up.

Supply, Installation & Rebates
We supply and install Mitsubishi Electric, Mitsubishi Heavy Industries and Daikin split systems and hold all required licences for installation. An electrician is required to wire the system back to your switchboard; we can arrange this on your behalf. We can also assist with government rebates including VEECs for eligible units.
Hot Tip
Split systems require regular cleaning to perform at their best. The filters at the front of the indoor unit collect dust and debris. At the start of each season, give them a quick vacuum or rinse in warm soapy water, and let them dry before putting them back.
We can also provide this as a service, including checks of both the indoor and outdoor unit. Give us a call to arrange a suitable time.
ENERGY EFFICIENCY
As we transition from gas to electric, many people are unsure about what they can claim a rebate on and which systems are right for their home. An added complexity is the climate; the Macedon Ranges is unique. Our cold mornings and hot summer days require a different approach to Melbourne, and local knowledge makes a real difference when sizing and selecting systems.
Whether it's hot water, heating or cooling, Paul takes your budget, your family and your local climate into account before making any recommendation. Call us to discuss your options today.

Gas Heating
During winter, gas heaters across Victoria are in high use. As recent incidents involving carbon monoxide poisoning remind us, gas heaters should be serviced at least once every two years by a registered plumber.
Regular servicing not only protects your household, it can save you money. Always ensure the service includes checking the return air vent is clean, as a blocked vent restricts performance and efficiency. Give us a call to arrange a suitable time.
Thinking about an upgrade?
If your gas ducted heater is ageing, it may be worth considering a move to a ducted split system. Contact us to discuss your options and the government rebates currently available, including VEECs.
Wood Heater Installation
Did you know?
Only plumbers with a mechanical licence can legally install wood heaters. Murphys Plumbing VIC holds the required mechanical licence for wood heater installation.
Before Your Installation
Ask your wood heater supplier to confirm the correct flue lengths, that your hearth is the correct size for your chosen burner, and that all wall setbacks meet requirements.
Every wood heater is different — make sure your supplier has covered this before your licensed plumber arrives. Wood heaters can only be installed on non-combustible surfaces such as concrete or tiles. Installation on carpet or timber flooring must be on a fire rated hearth base.

Our Service Area & Scope
We install within a 30km radius of Romsey township and service single storey homes only*. We do not install inserts into existing fireplaces and prefer to install new wood heaters only.
*Note: this restriction applies to wood heater installations only.
Hot Tip
The flue should be regularly cleaned to prevent ash buildup, which can block the flue and create a fire hazard — flue cleaning is typically carried out by a chimney sweep.
The decktite covering the flue connection through the roof can deteriorate over time and cause water leaks. The flue itself can also rust. Both should be inspected regularly to keep your wood heater operating safely and efficiently.
